Activities Accomplished

DABALI takes pride in the following activities it has accomplished so far:

 Held a talk programme on ‘Theatre Crisis in Nepal’ in 1995
 Held a three days symposium on ‘Past, Present and Future of Nepali Theatre’ in 1999
 Held a seminar on ‘Heritage of Nepali Theatre’ in 2000
 Conducted a Community Theatre Training to the youth of Rolpa, Doti, Accham and Banke (1995-1996)
 Held 160 Community Theatre shows on local issues and earthquake in different schools of the Kathmandu valley(1995-1996)
 Trained different young theatre artists and conducted a month Theatre Expedition around Annapurna Himalayas (crossing high pass ThorongLa, 17,500ft.) to support VNY”98 (Visit Nepal ’98) programme in 1997
 Organized ThangLa, a play based on polyandry tradition prevailing in Trans Himalayan region, written and directed by Sarubhakta and Anup Baral respectively (2000)
 Established Nepal Centre of International Theatre Institute (2000)
 Established World Theatre Day in Nepal (2000)
 Established DABALI Award to honor theatre workers (2002)
 Produced a play Journey into Thamel written by Prof. Abhi Subedi and directed by Puskar Gurung in 2003
 Established Dashain Tika Programme for Actors (2004)
 NIB (Nepal India Bangladesh) Theatre Festival (2004)
 Produced a play Jalpari, a Nepali adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Lady from the Sea directed by Puskar Gurung in 2009
 Started theatre campaigning project Theatre for Change in different schools (2009 – 2011).
